A large group of people, in general, are side sleepers and this is actually the best position for sleeping if it is natural to you. If a back sleeper is told to sleep on their side, they won’t be able to maintain that. The reason that sleep specialists tell you that sleeping on your side is best is that the cerebrospinal fluid can flush out toxins easier. You will also see that there is a reduction of headaches and you lower the risk of developing age-related ailments such as Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease if you sleep on your side.
However, the only downside to sleeping on your side is that it can put pressure on your liver. Especially if you sleep on your left side. If you have a nose ailment where you have sinus problems or just a simple cold, put a few pillows underneath your head to keep it lifted. That will keep the mucus out of your sinus cavities as much as possible. And if you struggle with joint and back pain, put a flat pillow underneath your neck and put a towel that is twisted underneath your back to keep the spine supported and the blood flow unchanged. What about if you sleep on your stomach?

If you sleep on your stomach, it is actually good for your blood pressure and reduces snoring and heartburn, and is good for your digestion. However, it can be challenging for the spine and back. There is a simple fix as you can put a small pillow under your pelvic area and stomach to keep it supported. Put a flat pillow under your head or don’t sleep on a pillow to keep your neck and back straight.
